Hey there, I'm Jennifer!

I have been in the restaurant business for 25+ years. I started like most young people waiting tables for a local restaurant in my hometown of Bellingham, WA. I began traveling at the age of 24 and landed on the island of Maui and worked for 4 years at a restaurant on the beach. Two of those years were as a manager where I learned the ins and outs of running a large, successful restaurant, which included in-house bookkeeping. Little did I know at the time how well that would serve me in the future.

I left Maui and went to North Carolina where I helped one of my best friends that I met in Maui open her first restaurant. My friend is a Chef and had the back of the house under control but needed help with the front of the house. I used the management knowledge I learned in Maui to help my friend get up and running. This restaurant is still a successful business 20 years later. I then came to Los Angeles where I landed a job with a Restaurant Financial Management Company as an Account Manager (bookkeeper) and worked directly with a CPA for some very well-known LA restaurants. While employed with this company I took night classes at Santa Monica College in all the accounting courses. I was hooked on restaurant bookkeeping and accounting and found something that I was not only great at but enjoyed. Win Win!!

I had a brief stint in Ashland, OR owning and running a coffeehouse with family. Again, my accounting and bookkeeping knowledge served me well, and the coffeehouse is still operating today.

Upon coming back to Los Angeles, I realized I wanted to take my "show on the road" and be an independent bookkeeper specializing in the exciting LA Food Scene. From 2007 until late 2011, I worked on my own, out of my West LA apartment before "work from home" had caught on. I understand the ups and downs of working as an independent bookkeeper and the struggles and triumphs that it entails.

In late 2011 I partnered with a good friend of mine in Well Done Books, Inc., a bookkeeping firm specializing in only the hospitality/restaurant niche. Together we grew the business to include employees and happy clients and have the knowledge and passion for this business that can help others get there too. Well Done Books, Inc. is still a thriving bookkeeping firm in West LA and provides a great environment for its employees and clients alike!
